Naba Barta Guwahati, : The 84th Foundation Day of B. Borooah College (Autonomous), marking its glorious journey of 84 years, was celebrated today with a day-long programme. The celebrations began in the morning with the hoisting of the college flag by Principal Dr. Satyendra Nath Barman. At the open session chaired by the Principal, he highlighted the college’s significant achievements, academic progress and glorious journey.
MLA of New Guwahati constituency, Diplu Ranjan Sarma, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. In his address, he urged the students to make regular use of the library to broaden their knowledge and intellectual horizons.
As part of the Foundation Day celebrations, the Gopinath Bordoloi Award for this year was conferred upon eminent singer and ‘Asom Sourav’ awardee Dwipen Baruah. After receiving the honour, the legendary artiste enthralled the audience with two musical performances.
On the occasion, the book Technological Skills in Education, authored by Dr. Satyabrata Baruah, Dr. Devika Phukan and Raboni Khawbung, was released. Students who excelled in academics, co-curricular activities, NSS and NCC were also felicitated and awarded. Teachers and research scholars who published research papers in Q1 and Q2 journals were felicitated during the programme. In addition, prizes were distributed among the winners of various sports competitions held among the teaching and non-teaching staff. The day-long celebrations concluded with a cultural programme followed by the ceremonial lighting of lamps in the evening.
